Map your Munros
Copy munros.mdb and munros.xls to your PC.
is a MS Access database containing two tables:
- Munros – giving the names, heights and locations of the hills and
- log – make an entry in your name for each time you climbed a Munro
(Easiest to copy the “munroist” entry for each Munro and change name)
is an Excel spreadsheet that maps the Munros you’ve climbed (blue) and those still to do (gold dots)
Method
When you’ve finished updating your “log” in munros.mdb you need to copy the information into the “done” and “to do” sheets of munros.xls before you will see your hills on the “Map” sheet.
To display the Munros already climbed, click on the “Queries” tab in munros.mdb. Run the “m_first” query by Open(ning) it, or double-clicking, typing your name when prompted. Select (click the top-left square) and copy all the data displayed. Paste this into the “done” sheet of munros.xls, replacing any data already there.
Repeat this process with the “m_never” query, pasting the hills still to climb into the “to do” sheet of munros.xls.
Before mapping another person’s Munros copy the “done” and “to do” sheets and rename them for the next time you want to see your own map. For example, Andrew’s information is saved as sheets “a” and “an”, respectively.
